- I am a PhD student in Computer Science at ETH Zurich, funded externally by IBM Research Zurich, and jointly supervised by Andreas Krause and Mara Graziani. My research focuses on using generative models to simulate realistic physical data, such as mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction—in chemistry and materials science. I investigate whether such synthetic data can enhance AI performance in both specialized tasks, like structure elucidation, and generalist foundation models, while addressing the challenge of closing the gap between simulated and real-world data to maximize downstream utility.
